What Tiny U is

A town for people
who are three feet tall.

Tiny U is an indoor playground in Portmore, laid out as a small high street rather than one big climbing frame. There is a fire station, a doctor’s office, and a market and bakery, each one a hut a child can walk into and take charge of.

Alongside the town there is a soft play area for the smallest visitors, and the Tiny Café, a proper sit-down space for the grown-ups with a clear view of every hut.

We are not a school and we do not run classes. Nobody stands over your child telling them what to do next. They pick a hut, they play, they move on when they are ready.

Edutainment, not lessons

Counting change at the market, naming body parts at the doctor’s office, taking turns on the hose. Learning that happens because the play needs it.

Free play, not a programme

No timetable, no instructor, no enrolment. Children choose where to go and how long to stay.

Adults come free

We charge for children only. Up to two adults may accompany each child at no charge.

Socks on, shoes off

Everyone past the sock station is in socks. It keeps the floor clean and the footing safe.

Free parking

Free on-site parking, so you are not circling with a toddler in the back.

The Town

Six places, one floor.

Each hut has its own colour. Children learn the place by colour long before they can read the sign above the door.

Fire Station
Pretend town

Helmets, jackets and a hose reel. The loudest hut in the town, and usually the first one a child runs to.

Doctor’s Office
Pretend town

A waiting room, a scale, a chart and a doctor’s bag. Quieter than the rest, and the hut children take most seriously.

Market & Bakery
Pretend town

Baskets, a scale, a till and a tray of bread. Somebody sells, somebody shops, and the roles swap every few minutes.

Soft Play
Ages 0–4

Padded, enclosed and low to the ground. Kept separate from the town so crawlers are not caught in the traffic.

Tiny Café & Lounge
For parents

Proper coffee, cold drinks and a small food menu, with lounge seating arranged so you can hold a real conversation and still see every hut.

Baby Cres Store
On site

Car seats, carriers and nursery essentials from Baby Cres, in the building. Shop while they play, instead of making a separate trip with a toddler in tow.

Sock Station
At the door

Shoes off, socks on, bags in the cubbies. Forgot yours? We sell Tiny U play socks here in child and adult sizes.

Child drop-off

Two hours, properly looked after

For the gym run, a medical appointment, or an errand you cannot do with a toddler on your hip. Leave your little one with our team for up to two hours and come back for them when you are done.

  • Maximum two hours per booking
  • Available 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Fed, changed and cared for while you are away
  • Outside those hours by arrangement, at a higher rate

You bring: diapers, a change of clothes, drinks and snacks for the full two hours. We cannot accept a drop-off without them.

Collection is timed. There is a ten-minute grace period after your two hours. Beyond that, a late-collection charge applies for every five minutes, or part of five minutes, until your little one is picked up.

First birthdays

Doljabi, the career pick

In Korea, a child’s first birthday ends with doljabi: a row of objects is set in front of the baby, and whichever one they reach for is said to point at the life ahead of them. A stethoscope for a doctor. A coin for wealth. Thread for a long life.

Tiny U is already a town full of jobs, so we run it properly, on a low table, with the whole room watching, and the object your child picks tied to one of our huts. The photograph of that moment is the one the family keeps.

  • Set out on a dedicated doljabi table with traditional and Tiny U objects
  • Guided by our staff so the family can watch rather than run it
  • Held in the party room, with the town open to your guests afterwards
  • Available as part of any first-birthday party booking
Parties

  • Tables, chairs and clean-up handled by us
Tiny Café

Coffee, a drink, and a seat

Most play centres give parents a plastic chair and a vending machine. We would rather you actually enjoyed the two hours. Real coffee, proper seating, and somewhere you can finish a conversation. No booking needed.

  • Espresso, fresh juices, cold drinks and a small food menu
  • Lounge seating with a clear view of the play floor
  • A quiet corner if you need to take a call or get work done
  • Free Wi-Fi, high chairs, nut-free menu
Baby Cres Store

Safety & health

The rules, in plain words.

Every one of these exists because of something that can actually go wrong. Staff will ask you to follow them, and will ask anyone who won’t to leave.

Drop-in play is not supervised

For ordinary play sessions a parent or guardian aged 18 or over stays on site and keeps their child in sight throughout. Our staff run the floor; they are not minders. This is different from a booked drop-off.

Drop-off is supervised

During a booked drop-off our staff take responsibility for your child for the agreed two hours. You must be contactable on the number you give us and able to return within a reasonable time if we call.

Socks past the sock station

Children and adults both. No bare feet, no outdoor shoes, no stockings alone. The flooring is non-slip and works with socks; bare feet and smooth soles do not.

Come well

Please stay home if anyone in your group has a fever, a rash, a cough, or has been sick in the last 24 hours. Tell us and we will move your booking with no penalty.

Nut-free building

No peanuts or tree nuts, in anything, brought in or eaten on site, including in the snacks you pack for a drop-off. Check the label before you pack it.

Diapers stay on

Children still in the potty-training stage should be in a diaper or pull-up for the whole session. Changing facilities are by the toilets.

No strollers on the floor

Leave them in the stroller bay at the sock station. The town aisles are narrow and children move fast through them.

Age-appropriate zones

Soft play is for ages 0–4. Older children playing in it, however gently, is the most common way small ones get hurt, so we do ask them to move on.

Rough play gets stopped

Climbing on hut roofs, throwing equipment, or pushing. Tell any staff member if something makes you or your child uncomfortable and we will deal with it.

No alcohol, no smoking

Tiny U is an alcohol-free premises. We do not serve it, and it may not be brought in , not for parties, not for private events, not at any time. Smoking and vaping are prohibited throughout, inside and out.

Collection is checked

A child left with us is released only to the person who dropped them off, or to a named person you have given us in advance. We will ask for identification.

Photographs

Photograph your own child freely. Please do not photograph or film other people’s children, and do not post anything with them in it.

For ordinary play sessions, yes. Tiny U is an unsupervised play facility, which means our staff run the space but do not mind individual children. If you need to leave your child with us, book the two-hour drop-off instead, that is a supervised service.

Everyone past the sock station, children and adults. Outdoor shoes stay in the cubbies. If you forget, we sell Tiny U play socks at the door in child and adult sizes.

The pretend town suits roughly ages 2 to 10. Soft play is for ages 0 to 4 and is kept separate so crawlers are not in the traffic. Older children are welcome in the town but are asked to stay out of soft play.

2. Supervision during drop-in play

For ordinary play sessions Tiny U is an unsupervised facility. Every child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian aged 18 or over who remains on the premises and retains responsibility for that child at all times. Staff supervise the equipment and the space, not individual children.

3. Admission

Admission is charged per child. Adults are admitted free, to a maximum of two adults per child. Rates are the same on weekdays and weekends. Sessions may be capped and may sell out. Management may refuse admission.

4. Opening hours

Monday to Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Closed Sundays. Public holidays, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Hours may change and will be published here.

5. Child drop-off, what it is

Drop-off is a short-stay supervised service of a maximum of two hours per booking, available between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on days we are open. It is not day care, not an early childhood programme, and not education. Drop-off outside 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. is available by prior arrangement only and is charged at a higher rate.

6. Drop-off, your responsibilities

You must supply, for the full two hours: diapers, a change of clothes, and drinks and snacks. All items must be nut-free and labelled with the child's name. We may refuse a drop-off where these are not supplied. You must remain contactable on the number given at drop-off and able to return promptly if we call.

7. Drop-off, our responsibilities

During the agreed period our staff will supervise, feed and change your child using the items you supply. You must disclose at drop-off any allergy, medical condition, medication or dietary requirement. We do not administer medication. If your child becomes distressed, unwell or injured we will contact you immediately and we will ask you to come for them, and unused time is not charged.

8. Drop-off, collection and lateness

Collection is due at the end of the agreed two hours. A grace period of ten minutes applies. Thereafter a late-collection charge is payable for every five minutes, or part of five minutes, until the child is collected, at the rate published at the time of booking. The charge applies regardless of the reason for lateness and is payable before the child is released.

9. Drop-off, who may collect

A child will be released only to the adult who dropped them off, or to a person named in writing at drop-off. Photographic identification will be requested. We will not release a child to any other person under any circumstances. Where a child is not collected and you cannot be reached, we will contact your named emergency contact, and after a reasonable period we may be obliged to contact the relevant authorities.

10. Parties

A party booking reserves the party room only; the play floor remains open to the public. Exclusive use of the play floor may be added for an additional charge, subject to availability and scheduling around public sessions. Guest numbers must be confirmed at least seven days before the date.

11. Payment

Payment is due at check-in unless otherwise agreed in writing. Rates are inclusive of General Consumption Tax and may change without notice. Admission is non-transferable and is not refundable once a session has begun.

12. Health

Do not enter if any member of your group has a fever, rash, discharge, diarrhoea or vomiting, or has had any of these within 24 hours. Notify us and your booking will be moved without charge. We may decline a drop-off where a child appears unwell.

15. Conduct

Rough play, climbing on structures not designed for it, and abusive behaviour toward guests or staff are not permitted. We may remove any guest breaching these rules without refund.

16. Personal property

Belongings are left in the cubbies and stroller bay at your own risk. Tiny U accepts no liability for loss or damage to personal property on the premises.

17. Risk and liability

Play carries inherent risk of injury. By entering you accept that risk on behalf of yourself and children in your care. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under Jamaican law.

18. Photography

20. First-birthday doljabi

The doljabi is a ceremonial element of a first-birthday booking and is offered for entertainment and tradition only. The objects are cleaned before and after use and are handled by the child under the supervision of their own parent or guardian. No outcome, prediction or representation about a child’s future is made or implied. Families may supply their own objects subject to our approval on hygiene and safety grounds.
